Outreach
The CARE Van provides health screenings, information on health department programs and
immunizations. It offers a convenient way for people to access health department services. The CARE
Van offers support for the walking program to promote fitness and exercise as two of the most important
factors in good health. United Way of Fayette County helps fund many of the activities on the CARE
Van. The Cholesterold program is available because of United Way funding.
During Flu Vaccine season, the CARE VAN makes stops to many businesses and agencies to give flu
shots. The nurses also take the van to Miami Trace Schools and Washington City Schools to give the
teachers and staff their flu shots.
The CARE Van parks at the Fayette County Fair each year. We welcome visitors.
The Van goes to both Miami Trace and Washington City Schools for Kindergarten Round-Up. We
provide kindergarten immunizations for the children attending the Round-up. This saves the parents a
trip to the doctor's office or health department.
In August, we attend Farm Field Day and take blood pressure and give tetanus shots.
At the request of businesses or agencies we also do cholesterol screenings at their respective sites.
